  | Wednesday June 18, 2014 11:51 AM Last week I painted my first miniature. This weekend, I sprayed it with Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze to use as a varnish, because I'd read online that some people used that as a finish. My plan was to use Krylon Matte Finish once the glossy coat dried, to get rid of the shininess, but I didn't get that far. I've included some before and after photos so you can see the result. Basically, the Crystal Clear Glaze ended up coating the miniature in a layer of tiny bubbles. I assume the only way to fix this would be to strip the mini with Simple Green and start over. What did I do wrong so I can avoid this problem in the future? Can anybody recommend a good varnish? I live in North Carolina so the humidity may be a factor.

| Wednesday June 18, 2014 3:10 PM Oh you laid on WAY too much is what happened here. Very thin multiple coats is what you want to do with a can. Don't stray too far or too close and pass over the model quickly.
I use a n airbrush and that is usually always the best bet to not mess up the mini like this. It's still possible to do so but it's way harder to mess it up. I shoot future floor shine as my gloss coat through the airbrush.

| Wednesday June 18, 2014 3:19 PM Thank you! I'll strip the mini back down to the plastic and try with this one again later. I picked up a pack of three orc spearmen yesterday so I'll think I'll try painting a basecoat and then going lightly with the varnish to see how it turns out. |
