Member Since: August 28, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Tuesday December 3, 2013 4:48 PM Hi guys,Aiming to build up a rules legal army over the next few months so I need a troops choice. This month will be a tactical squad. I'll firm up details once I know how I'm fixed for free time this month. Two weeks off work means nothing this time of year! I'll take some pictures once they're primed and ready for base coat - RD...out [[Edited by RustyDice on Tuesday December 31, 2013 11:27 PM]] Scientists study the world as it is; Engineers create the world that has never been. ~Theodore von Karman |

Member Since: August 28, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Wednesday December 4, 2013 2:44 PM Hey Socos, It's going to be an Ultramarine Army in common with my threats the past few months. The new SM Codex was one of the must buys when I decided to get back into the hobby and while expensive before adding a single mini, it is in my opinion okay value for money if... And here's the 'if' There's several of the first founding chapters and successor chapter special rules set out all in one place. So the book could stand up to building several table top SM armies, or let you customise your force based around the new allies rules IF that's what you want. It was what I wanted. My UM army is going to be my main SM force and that's how I'm building it, but in the future I'll be switching in and out specialist units depending on who I'm fighting and what I learn about how to play them. So for me, if I can do that all with one codex, it was a great starting purchase. Hope that's useful! Good luck with your threat this month and let me know if you make a decision RD Scientists study the world as it is; Engineers create the world that has never been. ~Theodore von Karman |

They are to give my DA some more options cause I feel like the Green Wing got a little passed over. |

Member Since: August 28, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Friday December 6, 2013 5:38 PM DA characters were really disappointing and the Deathwing Knights are a big 'meh' (apart from the minis which are great looking). When I get around to it I'm going to build a custom Belial with a thunder hammer and storm shield and that Sword of Silence resting silently on his back. What I do like about the new DA book is that there's basically 3 army styles in there, so there's something for every style of play...except maybe someone who's style is to win every week. Should be posting some pictures of this months paint threat. Minis are mostly assembled and have all be primed and base coated. Doing the 'BuyPainted' paint before assembly which really seems the best tactic for me personally for airbrushing. Recon I can get the shading and highlights done this weekend or early next week. But most of the rest of the month will be spent detailing and that's about as much fun as spraying grey primer on grey plastic...Fifty Shades of 'Did I get that bit?' Member Since: August 28, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Sunday December 15, 2013 3:52 PM Hi,Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I was in Edinburgh on a long weekend break. I'd really like to magnetize the whole army but I'm not able to source magnets small enough here in the UK/Ireland. If anyone out there reads this and knows where I can pick them up, then please drop a comment and contact details - I'm buying more time to source a supply by painting the Black Reach Tactical Squad which is snap fit. hopefully early in the new year I can sort something out. I've all 10 bases finished up the stage you see here also. The terminator is from an earlier threat to give you an idea of the end effect I'm trying to go for. All's left is detailing and final assembly, but not much time left. Mind you, I do love a tight deadline RD...out [[Edited by RustyDice on Monday December 30, 2013 8:13 AM]] Scientists study the world as it is; Engineers create the world that has never been. ~Theodore von Karman |
