I've other SM vehicles on my shelf and compared between boxes, and it seems to be just this one. So possible it was just a mold tool coming to the end of its life and weapons sprues seem fine. Hate hate hate to be criticizing a kit because this is all part of the game but just not what I was expecting to be doing tonight. I've shelf full of scale model kits from different manufacturers at this price point and, well, you can imagine. Modelling skills need to step up. Lots of sanding tonight (with face mask and eye protection) when I should be assembling which is a bore! Fun will start when the painting kicks in sometime towards the weekend. Bare naked plastic (now there's a user name) was sprayed with Liquitex Black Surface Prep. A thin coat has left a sort of rough to the touch texture which I'm going to prime again in vallejo grey before base coating in VMA french blue. I've noticed using VMA on my minis that edges are prone to the paint rubbing off. Hopefully, this will give more of a surface for the paint to adhere to. I'm going to go over it with the grey because it's a more neutral starting colour than the black. If it all works out I should be getting the base coat down on Friday after work, so fingers crossed some pictures before the weekend! As per flickr t&c here is the link to my page So far the new style of prime coating is holding up well. The blue is yet to properly set so I don't want to handle it too much just yet. Will leave this sitting around for an hour or two before adding more colours. Next up is the shade coat, pictures to follow.
