Im doing a Red Blok "Tank" called Dotch Yaga. Im repainting it as a test trial for my DUST models and will be doing a bit of converting and such with it too. Anyway here is a picture of it from Start with a timestamp. |

Stripping it with acetone and a old semi stiff paintbrush (I will be soon I think) as the "pre-paint" figs usually have some sort of ridiculous type of paint on them and Im needing it done QUICK. CAUTION!!! be VERY CAREFUL if you try this method as you can ruin your models. I will be posing in a "hull down" position with the legs braced preparing to fire the heavy mortar. Kinda like this: and hull down meaning this |

Member Since: May 10, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Saturday July 13, 2013 9:46 PM "progress" made... I began stripping, and the Lacquer thinner was melting the plastic so fast I ALMOST lost one of the leg armor plates. Lucky for me I was taking it easy and paying attention.....SO I will NOT be stripping before paint. I still plan to do the "ol' MEK and Tamiya putty" trick on the Armor anyhow and try to make the melty plate one that has mud effects on it to cover up my now embedded fingerprints..... now If I can get the rain to slow down some so I can prime.... |

At least no real damage was done.[[Edited by COURAGEnHONOUR on Tuesday July 16, 2013 4:20 PM]] We can seldom get our children to do what we tell them, but they almost never fail to imitate us. |

Member Since: May 10, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Monday July 15, 2013 6:15 PM LOL Yea... I have cut up the legs and am currently sculpting them, back together. I also modified the mortar and Gauss to make them more beefy VS little spindly bits. LUCKY for me on the thinner to strip I was going to be adding texture with putty and MEK ANYWAY or I would have cried (if I needed a smooth surface!!) so I guess it was a easy to recover mess. I will have more pics tonight. Im still having trouble uploading videos so Im behind on You tube.... Sorry guys!! |

Here are some pics from the net of what it looks like Before:NOW if you notice the legs are VERY static and the mortar is ..... "spindly". Well I have chopped the mortar to make it look like the gear is being driven from a gearbox inside the bulky part of the body and am currently reposing the legs to make them more "supporting recoil" and less "lazy run of the mill" pose. Here is my Progress at Day 15 (50% of time gone!!!) Body reassembled and ready for "texture treatment" weapons Note the "slam" of the mortar Leg plates ready for Putty And rough out of the Legs |

Member Since: May 10, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Friday August 2, 2013 7:03 PM SOOOO Whats the story with the WGC painting challenge???? FAILURE!!! Thats what.... I really hate to say it BUT I was very very busy this month and With a short stint in the hospital with a Family member and finding out my Vallejo suitcase is kinda like mud (my minitaire is still packed up!!) I fell short. I WILL however finish it up soon and enter again maybe this month OR next month. But Lets look on the bright side....My vallejo military suitcase CAN be salvaged... Save $300 USD I now own CHEAP oil colors for more washes I have the tech down for making my DUST tanks more awesome when I paint them...... And THATS what I was wanting to do anyway so Its a success even though I did not finish the challenge on time. |
