I have never done this many resin pieces before all at once. Resin is normally a treat to work with, But this is going to be a lot of sanding and pinning. One thing that I found was kinda interesting was that between the to pack of these guys how big of a difference there was. The first set of three was perfect, the mold lined up right, all the piece were still of the sprue, they were strait and there was little to no flashing. Lets just say that wasn't the case with the second set. To add insult to injury a couple of the sprues were broken, one of which was the leg sprue. They must has dropped it or something because when they put it back in I ended up with a total of 7 left legs and 5 right! Oh forge world how I love you!

All that said though they are very nice casting and I will be able to fixe them up no problem and get them painted for or September scenario, which I will be talking more about later.

I use steel bases of on of my minis now personal and commission. These are the cheapest version. on the left you can see a stock base and o the right the steel base. Just a disk 1/4" thick that is the same diameter as the regular base. They give the model a much better feel, nice and heavy and easy to keep up right.

Ok, so now we are on to paint.
The box (or website) art shows them with a lot of true metallics - weathered and worn with an Iron Hands icon on their left shoulder. (Just checked the forge world site to confirm and saw the Casellax battle automata .... nice!) Anyhow, the chapter I play is a second founding subset of the Iron Hands, the Iron Sun marines, so I'm sure when the next huge forge world book comes out, I will easily be able to tie in the story of these automatons. Which is as follows:

On the rush trip to Isstvan, Ferrous dispatches a small group of ships to make their way for the outer most edge of the galaxy to a system just past the light of the Astronomicon; this was the Iron Sun system. Of the relics they took with them were a group of combat robots known as The Gear. The Gear is a manufactorum with a built-in teleport platform that could produce, maintain, and deploy a unit of six combat robots to be used as a personal retinue for an Iron Hands Captain, Chapter Master, or even Primarch. As the automaton are damaged or destroyed the manufactorum repairs or replaces them via teleport.

So to use these in our game we will use these rules.

WS4 BS4 S5 T5 WO2 I4 A2 LD10 SV3+ IVSV6+ cost 1200 points

*If any model is reduced to one wound, it is placed in special reserves at the end of the phase. If the model has no wounds left, it is removed from the game.
*A unit in special reserve teleports in on a roll of a 6+
Lightning gun is S8 AP2 24" rapid fire
Jump packs
teleport homer
Relentless

While this would be a really overpowered unit (even for the point) in a normal game, for our scenario it will work nicely. But I wouldn't be opposed to input.

Anyways, as for colour scheme, I'm still not much of a fan of true metallics so I think I will stick to non-metallics. I'm thinking:

All: Prime: Black
All: Dry brush: space wolves grey
Armour: Glaze: red to yellow
All hoses: Glaze: blue to white
Jump jets: Air brush: blue to white
Face plate: Jewel: blue to white
Detail on left shoulder
All: edge highlight :----
All: gloss clear
All: satin clear

This will be interesting, I have not yet tried doing non-metallics, so will be following this. Really like the figures too.

Nothing to exciting, just vallejo grey with a directional drybrush of space wolves grey. It will only be the sub structure that is this colour so I cant get to fancy,
