Member Since: May 10, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Sunday September 29, 2013 9:38 PM As promised, my threat is now completed. Had to finish the ground work and paint the bases. Had a mishap, seems on the tip for the leaders sword the paint chipped off, and I didn't notice until I photographed him! It's fixed now. Tried something a little different with the ground work, used Secret Weapon pigments on the static grass. I would always wash and/or dry brush the static grass, it always had a plastic-like sheen to it, even if the color was good. What I did was to dab the pigment around on the grass and clumps, then came back and flowed some rubbing alcohol on the pigments. I used, in order, Ancient Earth, Green Earth, and Yellow Earth. Here's a test piece I did:Not only did it take the sheen off, I think it tied the grass to the ground more, instead of looking like it had been placed there. It also made the ground work on all the bases look pretty much the same tone, as they are an unit, they'd be in the same area. Anyway, here's the final pictures of my threat, enjoy. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, phone camera. Was a lot of fun to paint these guys. On to next month, not sure if I want to finish the unit and do the other 5, or do something else. Good luck to everyone in the drawing, and thanks Badger for such an awesome prize. Sarge "If you ain't CAV, you ain't!!" |
