I've been working on the base a partially burned down rope bridge(kind of. I hope)Started with this  Then used Needle nose pliers to pick out small sections to give it a rocky look  Then used spackling to smooth out the rest.  Painted black and dry brushed with gray  Next I used pigments to give the rock face some color and to create a dirt ground on top. Then added a couple of bushes and some grass. I then cut the post from a dowel, drilled a hole in the post(can't see this in the pic) and stained it.  I took a couple pieces of flat balsa wood and cut three planks and stained them. Then burned two of the planks to get the burned down look. To get the plank to hang, I used a piece of 3 strand rope threaded through a hole and wrapped around the plank. Then Glued the other two planks down on the top. Also took some of the 3 strand rope and threaded it through the post where the hand rail would be and frayed the end. Also added a magnet so Haley can be removed and attached to a normal base for play. Just need to touch up the black "dead zone" around the sides and its done.  Sorry for the really long post |
