 Member Since: September 1, 2013  RK: 1 MP: 0   | Monday September 2, 2013 8:57 PM Hey WGC! I'm Bread and I am new as new can be to this craft. I recently painted my first mini after being introduced to the hobby by my awesome buddy McDarkBeer, and I think its a lot of fun. I have a ridiculous amount to learn about painting minis, but I am gonna give it a try. Also, I like sculpting, so with that in mind, I present my painting challenge for September 2013, Broccoli Monster![img]  [/img][img]  [/img][img]  [/img]Long story short, I DM for a group of co-workers, and this little guy was created for the new player to the group, and he is her Elf Druid's mushroom spirit companion. This is the companion to the Reaper mini Elf Druid, with a little sculpy modelled on to give him some tentacles for feet and fingers. Last time I use that stuff to kit, way too brittle. Going for a poisonous mushroom type color scheme, pale tones, purples, with some red and blue tones and also going to try wet blending for the first time with this little dude. So this really shouldn't take me too long to get done, but I want to take my time and try to get some nice blending in the colors, so I think its a decent task for my September Challenge. First night's work done on the steaming Horde of Broccoli.....ok well just the one, but we all know the lone Broccoli is the forerunner of Doom!- Black wash....umm cause...I'm trying something new with the painting method, going with a black base, paint up from that....we'll see how it goes [img]  [/img]- Bone base for the body, kinda gave Broccoli an emo look......ah well moving on! [img]  [/img]- Little wash coat, trying to catch some of the darker areas...didn't work so well, but I have a feeling the next layers of paint to come will cover that up. Gotta try things to learn what not to do! [img]  [/img]Moving on to some colors next, some super psychedelic broccoli tops to come! |

The head and the hands turned out pretty sweet, on to the tentacle feet.  Pretty happy with the way its progressing...little bit of a light dirt pass as a last touch to the evenings work last night, not too shabby so far. Any thoughts on what next to do? |
