 Member Since: March 3, 2014  RK: 1 MP: 0   | Monday March 3, 2014 12:21 PM I just picked up a new Badger 350 air brush on ebay for 15 bucks. I know its not great but the price was right and having never used one I didn't want to sink allot of money into it. That said my brother has a badger 80-2 compressor I can use but when I have read around on different forums its said that I should get a air tank for it so that its a more constant air flow. This seems odd to me since its a compressor made for air brushing but its not just one person talking about it.Also everyone seems to be saying you need a pressure regulator and a moisture trap. Again if that's needed why wouldn't it just come with one? Seems really odd that you would need extra stuff to get this to work. |

  Member Since: February 22, 2011 RK: 1 MP: 0 | Monday March 10, 2014 2:59 PM You don't NEED a tank. It's helpful but not needed. Now a days, most compressors are made with very minimal pulsations. Compressors have moving parts that "pump" air out in a rapid pace. The causes pulsations. A tank helps because it stored the air after it's pumped and comes direct out of the tank so there is minimal pulsation. If there are air pulses you get uneven spray. The air hose also help in removing pulsations especially the curly ones. But again, it's old tech. New compressors have pretty much fixed those problems coming straight from the compressor itself. there's still very subtle pulsations but not enough to really matter. Tanks helps with motor life as well as the motor isn't constantly on with a tank when you spray.You do need a regulator as you need to control the flow of the air. 80-2 is a old old model and back then you have to buy the compressor and regulator separately. Now-a-days most compressor's come with a regulator. The Moister trap usually is built into the regulator for our hobby. Moisture traps are mostly needed with a tank but always recommended with out as you don't want any moisture being passed through the hose into your spray. You're running on old school info.
