Stripping Paint? Sandblast it!
August 20, 2013 by DreamKnight
Taking the tour for a 100th time at Badger for the sake of Hugo from Ichiban Painting something really cool came up. Ken picked up this odd looking airbrush and was offhandedly talking about how it was used to etch glass and metals and other things. He said, "It'll blow the paint right off the surface".
This was when Hugo and I looked at each other and kinda raised our eyebrows. This prompted me to ask the simple question, "Wait, that would blow the paint off our miniatures too?" So I grabbed a set to take home and first thing I did, trying hard to ignore all the GenCon goodies, was to try this out.
Watch the video and let me know what you think. It actually works pretty good abet a bit messy. I feel like I just came home from the beach afterwards.
It's pretty inexpensive to get and I can think up a few things to try already with this including some realistic weathering effects.
