Member Since: May 16, 2013 RK: 1 MP: 0 | Sunday December 15, 2013 2:14 PM I did all the airbrushing yesterday on both of these models.I started on the Captain:  I finished the base texture, and attached him to the pill bottle that I use as a handle. I forgot to take a photo after they were primed black, but you can imagine what they look like primed black, I suspect.  I dusted him with Vallejo Model Air Blue Angel Blue from a 45 degree angle.  Also his back, but not his cape. Also, I'm doing the backpack separately, so I have poster putty covering the point where the pack will be glued.  Then I dusted him from around a 30 degree angle with a custom mixed color, which is just the same Blue Angel Blue with white added to it. Makes a nice highlight.  Same on the back, as well. I also working on the Stormtalon, as well. I'm looking forward to how this will turn out, as I haven't been painting vehicles much.  Sitting on my cake decorating Lazy Susan thingy, so I can spin it around and airbrush it easier.  I primed it black (again, sorry, no photo) and them dusted it pretty well with the same Blue Angel Blue. I covered the pilot with poster putty so he would stay black and not get any blue on him.  Then I hit it with the lighter color of blue, and tried to be careful about where I put it. I tried to make the panels and flat areas seem a bit darker at the edges.  Lastly, I removed the poster putty from the pilot and sprayed him with some OSL white. More on that later. |

I've laid down Vallejo Chocolate Brown with a brush to act as a base for the parts that will be gold (helmet, shoulderpads, etc.) and for his tabard.  I've painted the jet intakes silver and washed them black, worked on the missile pods a bit, and added a red wash to the pilot. Still not sure if I like how he's coming out. More soon, I'm off of work for six days. |
