  | Monday March 31, 2014 1:44 AM Thank you for the encouragement, everyone! That helped a lot. My next Sphinx project will be the Necrosphinx version. I think a watered down marble pattern would produce that soft effect. I might have put too much. Anyway, that's how we learn! I've been meaning to post the finished paint threat, but hadn't had the time during the weekend, so here it is (in time!).
The majority of the body is done at this stage. Now it's time for the details. This model has a crisscross pattern of blue and red and the ones found on its legs are very tiny to paint! Still using my main Sotek Green with Temple Guard Blue highlight for blue and Khorne Red highlighted with Evil Sunz Scarlet for red.
After sanding its feet, I prepared the base. I was out of coarse sand at the time and I got some that was finer than I thought. It worked out fine, but I still prefer coarse sand, but well, that's done. Maybe I'll add some more another time.
I cut some cork to make a few rocks to attach the scarabs and also a skull that accidentally broke off from the howdah. I decided to use it on the base instead.  I painted the rocks with my bone mixes, but finishing off with a light gray instead of usual white. I didn't have dead grass, so I just painted over ordinary static grass with my bone mix.
Now, for the tail and the gem using the same greens I used on its body.
And I'm done!
