These suckers are smaller than I'm used to. Painting the suits on Huckster's cards was incredibly challenging. I'll take some better pics tomorrow.    |

I got my hands on a Night Troll early and the sculpt is just so much fun. It reminds me of the classic movie monsters! At this rate, I'll have them done as an ADDITIONAL bonus threat! I do still need to take better pictures of all of the minis for this month but I would rather find time to do that during daylight hours. Some WIP shots From Pre-shading to base colour. For the Storm Troll, I wanted to go the standard scheme for my Trolls, Sapphire Blue base from Reaper Master Series and VMA Light Sea Blue. Normally the extreme highlight is a Blue-Grey Fenrisian Grey, but for the Storm Troll I went with Minitaire Snow White. I think I'm going to pick up some Arcane Blue for the runes. For the Night Troll I didn’t really find a blue that I liked, and I wanted him to be dark but still withing the theme of my Trolls, so I took Sapphire Blue and darkened it with some Cadmium Hue Orange. Colour Theory is awesome! Who would have thought that the paint wheel from gradeschool would come in handy? The blue came out quite nice I think, very dark over the black and then moderately bright over the white areas. It should wind up quite nice when all is said and done. The base of the spines will wind up with some Light Sea Blue with White Tips and I'll try to do a little OSL around the spines. I plan on doing a satin finish on the night troll and will probably try to do some light reflection from the spines along the arms and hands just a little bit. The Pyre Troll base colour is VMA Hull Red, and it very well may be my new favorite “base” red. Very rich, great colour that I am looking forward to using more in the future. Really enjoying painting these Light Warbeasts. I stand by my belief that Trolls have THE best Light Warbeast Sculpts in Hordes.            |
