For the remainder of the month I will be working on Ob'lotai 9-0, a character broadside from the Tau Farsight Enclaves supplement. I will upload some picks after I get the base coat colours down and maybe get the base partially done. This will give you a sense of the dynamic posing I have tried to create in relation to the Base I have created. I've bought some of GW's new technical paints and will see if I can utilise a few of these. Since its a character model I plan to try and put a lot of work into it, whilst not being the best of painters I'm going to try and see if I can try and learn a few new techniques. Happy painting everyone![[Edited by Banished-Enclaves on Friday December 20, 2013 7:01 AM]] [[Edited by Banished-Enclaves on Saturday December 21, 2013 10:19 PM]] [[Edited by Banished-Enclaves on Sunday December 29, 2013 11:23 PM]] |

Member Since: December 9, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Tuesday December 10, 2013 6:48 AM Thank you all for your kind wishes and encouraging words. Don't worry I didn't forget about uploading the pictures! Here is what I have done so far:The building in which Ob'lotai 0-9 Stands upon is finished. Drybrushing, washes and layering techniques were used for the majority of this. I also never new what the stippling brush was originally to be used for until recently. Previously I had used it for its strong bristles to scrape away freshly applied paint, this is how I create the worn appearance of the black and white tiles. Layering was another technique I had only ever tried the basics of, this time I followed GW's five paint gold tutorial off there website. I found this added to the depth of the gold finishings, these areas lastly served as a chance to experiment with the new GW nihilakh Oxide technical paint. I was surprised by how easy this paint was to work with to produce a realistic appearance. Stuff still to do: Base: - Add the additional liquid greenstuff to the base to produce slight inclines, merging the rubble with the buildings base. - Paint details (Banner pole and arm, Lasgun, Power fist, etc. - Use Typhus Corrosion in conjunction with Ryza Rust to weather the brass etch panel on the base. - Glue Rocks and sand over green stuffed areas. - Paint rocks and sand. Ob'lotai 0-9: - Finish the gold. - Prime and paint the shoulder pad and Smart-Missile Systems. - Paint the highlights. - Paint the lenses. - Apply the Tau decals. - Weather Ob'lotai 0-9, paint on battle damage etc. - Optional I would like to attempt wet blending to up the realism and technicality of the the paint job. I was hoping to utilise this to better display the impact of light and shadow upon the model (I might use a old broken Crisis suit as a test model to trial this technique upon first). Any help or tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

I will most likely get another good day of painting in tomorrow so I will see what I can do. Hopefully I can try a few new techniques and build upon those I've previously tried. Don't worry I will keep the pictures rolling! |

I've found over the past few months spraying down the base coat instead of painting it on by brush has really increased the cleanness of the paint job, That and also the discovery of the wet pallet. I am hopping to have the base finished or the majority of it finished by tonight, so keep an eye out for the next round of progress shots. |
