But, got the Trollbloods out, and washed, just need to start cleaning the mold lines, tomorrow. The rock is for Madrak, I hope, still working the idea out for him.[[Edited by Sarge on Tuesday August 6, 2013 11:45 PM]] Sarge "If you ain't CAV, you ain't!!" |

Member Since: May 10, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Tuesday August 6, 2013 1:59 AM Ok, was hoping to have them put together and primed by now. These are first models I have done from Privateer Press, and was one the reasons I decided to paint these. I've had 2 problems: 1) The humidity has been very high the last few days, I don't own an airbrush, so using the rattle can outside has been a no-go. 2) The mold lines on these models are something else. To be honest, I thought a couple of hours and done, but that is not the case. They are in some the worst places for removal that I have ever encountered. On Madrak it ran right down the middle of his bald head, down his face, in his mouth, and under his chin! The other 3 are just as bad, with a mold line down the middle of their foot and along side the big toe! Needless to say I have been taking my time cleaning them up. Oh, and another thing, some the mold lines are raised, but when I scrape them off, there's a very shallow trench where the mold use to be, anyone run into this before? Anyway, not making excuses, just wanted to do a bit a review and rant. I am hoping that the other models in the line are not as bad. Well, back to scraping, I have a threat to finish...lol. Oh, Chung, in your last poll on FB I checked, "carpet monster", any chance I change it to mold lines? Just glad I have the whole month. Sarge "If you ain't CAV, you ain't!!" |

Member Since: May 7, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Tuesday August 6, 2013 2:26 AM Your mold line problem sounds pretty bad. I've never had it as bad as you, as far as Privateer Press is concerned. I hope you'll get through it without too many scraps and cuts. You do have the WHOLE month. Take your time |

Member Since: May 10, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Tuesday August 6, 2013 3:26 AM Sure I will. The figures have some great detail, but the mold line runs right through some of them. So, it's slow going, don't want to ruin any of the detail. As, far as cuts, too late, already made a sacrifice to the Xacto Gods...lol.Sarge "If you ain't CAV, you ain't!!" |

Member Since: August 3, 2013 Initative RK: 1 MP: 0 | Wednesday August 7, 2013 12:02 AM Hey sarge, yeah the PP plastics suck to clean, there metal is a lot easier. They look good when finished but the mold lines are redonkulous. You are probably just going to have to muscle through them and look for the light at the end of the tunnel it will come sooner or later. I found filing and back side of a razor works best for me, I still spend hours/days depending on the model or models. PP went plastic but it isn't the plastic you think it is. It kind of looks and feels like a plastic and resin mix. very hard to scrape and clean. Then like you said they put some mold lines right through an important detail. Very frustrating I know. Any ways sorry for rambling, Just letting you know you are not the only one. till next time |
